Poppy's Famous Pressed Cookies

2 1/4 Cups Sifted All-Purpose Flour

3/4 Cup Sugar

1/4 Tsp. Baking Powder

1/2 Tsp. Salt

1 Cup Shortening

1 Egg

1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

In a large bowl sift flour, add sugar, baking powder and salt. With a pastry blender cut shortening into the flour mixture until fine lumps are formed. Crack egg into a 1/4 cup measuring cup, adding water as needed to measure a 1/4 cup. Add egg and vanilla to flour/shortening mixture. Beat well. If dough is too stiff thin out with a few drops of milk. If dough is too soft, add a TBS or 2 of flour. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Using a cookie press, press cookies onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes and remove from baking sheets immediately. Cool on racks. Enjoy!

At Poppy's Crew, our family has come together to uphold our grandparents' values of Faith, Family, Community, and Service while proudly honoring veterans and their sacrifices. Our journey began with a simple goal: to bring Wreaths Across America (WAA) to Rehoboth Village Cemetery, the resting place of our beloved Nanny, Poppy, and other veteran family members. As we grew, so did our mission. Today, in memory of our veteran grandfathers and family members, we extend our service to support local veterans in our community.

Poppy’s Crew is named in loving memory of "Poppy," a proud U.S. Navy veteran, and "Nanny," a dedicated Navy wife. Together, they exemplified a deep love for their country and an unwavering commitment to their fellow servicemembers. Their legacy of faith, family, community, and service continues to inspire us every day
